On the occasion of the centenary of the cession of Thrace to Greece and the Greek army’s entry into Alexandroupolis, the Department of History & Ethnology of the Democritus University of Thrace and the Historical Museum of Alexandroupolis organised an International Conference on Alexandroupolis: the history of city and its surroundings, which was held from 15 to 17 October 2021 at the Prefecture of Alexandroupolis.

The aim of the conference was to contribute to scientific research around the history of the city and its region and shed light on hitherto unknown aspects of the economic, social and cultural life of the people who have shaped it.
