The J. F. Costopoulos Foundation and the Hellenic Art Galleries Association organised, as part of Art Athina the fourth annual programme on the course of the artwork, for students of the Athens School of Fine Arts. Moderated by curator Daphne Politi, the programme was carried out online, due to the pandemic, and comprised meetings with artists and art-gallery representatives.
The students obtained useful information about contemporary art in Greece and abroad, the ways of promoting their artistic and curatorial work with support from art galleries, non-profit institutions, art theorists and historians, publishing houses and residency programmes, as well as about the terms and conditions for their own collaborations in joint projects.
The programme was attended by a large number of students from the Depts of Visual Arts and Art Theory & History.
There were inputs by the artists Yannis Varelas, Achileas Papakostas, Babis Karalis, Tina Karageorgi, Yannis Adamakos and by representatives of the art galleries The Breeder, Arch Athens, Soumboulakis, Cheap Art, Skoufa, Citronne and Rebecca Kamhi.
The project was completed with the annual talk held at Pallas on 15 November 2021, in the context of the Live Talks of Art Athina. Daphne Politi moderated the discussion on “(Re)Building the Future”. The panel was comprised of Nikos Tranos, Artist, Dean of the Athens School of Fine Arts; Stamatia Dimitrakopoulou, Art Director, Art Athina; Meni Stroggyli, Representative, The J. F. Costopoulos Foundation; Daphne Zoumboulaki, Director, Zoumboulakis Galleries; Dimitrios Antonitsis, Artist, Curator of Hydra School Projects; Manolis Daskalakis-Lemos, Artist.
